Project Description
Context: What challenge or issue does the project aim to address?
The Museum of Vancouver will be launching a beer and microbreweries exhibit from July 2023 to April 2024. The exhibit’s main themes include the origins of beer in Vancouver and the related geography, community and resilience, attitudes towards alcohol, and inclusivity.
This project continues work begun by LFS350 students in the Fall 2021 term. Click here to view a summary of the previous student group's work.
Main Project Activities and Deliverables
- Research the local beer/microbrewery scene in Vancouver
- Research the impacts of climate change on the sustainability of the local beer industry
- Students will have the opportunity to interview local breweries to collect stories of how they are dealing with issues of sustainability within their practice and operations
- In conjunction with the exhibition’s launch, students will work under the guidance of the curator, Jillian Povarchook, to propose a programming idea centered around environmental sustainability in local breweries
- Students will have the opportunity to storytell their findings in a digital format for social media, accompanied by a report on findings.
