Project Description
Context: What challenge or issue does the project aim to address?
The A Seat at the Table exhibit is a collaborative effort between the Museum of Vancouver and the Chinese Canadian Museum Society of BC. Its sister exhibit is located at Vancouver Chinatown’s Hon Hsing Building – 27E Pender St. This exhibit explores the historical and contemporary narratives on Chinese Canadians in British Columbia. As a travelling exhibit, the exhibit is set to move from places to places, scheduled to be at a fixed place for 3-5 months max per location and at all seasons. Students will be involved in proposing programming ideas that can be implemented which will connect the backyard garden exhibit to the local Chinese Canadian food system at the locations of Victoria, Kamloops, or Nanaimo. Ideas could be used for any season or be season specific.
